The Company stated in a blog that Boom Supersonic’s XB1, or the “baby boom, got entitled to receive $33 million (£26 million) in Series-A funding, taking its total raised to $41 million (£33 million). Richard Branson’s The Spaceship Company had the latest backing group which is the manufacturing arm of Virgin Galactic, and technology bosses, engineers, and astronauts, according to the daily mail.

The jet has the potential to manage same day returns on roughly basis of about 500 routes across the globe which costing around more than $329 million (£262 million) to build, starting in early 2020’s which means that it could fly from London to New York in three hours and fifteen minutes, or Tokyo to San Francisco in five hours.

However, a flight will cost you. Boom airlines are expected to cost $6,600 (£5,250) for 45 seats.

Boom airline will be considered as the fastest civil airplane ever made and the first ever independently constructed supersonic jet, according to the company. It is faster than the Concorde and would travel 1,451 miles per hour, flying at a height of 60,000 feet (which is higher than any other aircraft has ever flown) as per the daily mail, which would result in a quieter and less turbulent experience for the passengers. Every passenger would get a seat which is both aisle and window, given to its two single seat rows.

Last November, at the launch of the jet, CEO and founder Blake Scholl reported that Concorde’s designers didn’t have the technology to afford a supersonic travel but they do have it now.

The company, in last week’s press release, told that the funding round is at a point where they have $41 million; they added that their mission is to turn the supersonic flight into a reality. They are closer than before with the new capital to the first flight and their XB-1 supersonic demonstrator will be ready in about a year.

The funding will be used to complete the development & fabrication part of the XB-1 demonstrator. A thorough flight test will be conducted through programs that involve sonic boom testing. The company is really excited to have a choice on Boom’s first 10 airframes, according to Mr. Branson. Through Virgin Galactic’s manufacturing unit, the spaceship company, they will provide manufacturing and engineering services as well as flight test support and operations as part of their shared ambitions.
